Tomorrow, December 21st, is the winter solstice. I know it’s the shortest day of the year and scientifically that means it’s the moment when the North Pole has tilted to it’s furthest point from the sun. Okay. I looked up that last bit to describe it correctly, but thinking poetically, I’d like to know what happens to December light when it disappears. In a creative writing experience sort of way I discovered an answer on a recent walk down Vine Trail.
December Light
The last yellow leaves
of the river birch
remain to hold the light
So beautiful!!
Tomorrow the days will grow longer and we will see spring.
I agree with Sarita! Beautiful it is.
