I’ve been feeling stuck lately. Writing with these little magnet words seems less daunting than facing a blank journal page. I’m going to use this little poem as my mantra. It makes me think about ordinary things in a creative way. The p sounds go good together. This recurrence of similar sounds is called consonance. I tend to use consonance a lot in my poetry. Once a writing teacher told me my overuse of consonance bordered on silliness.
The image of a pink sun in a purple sky makes me think of my granddaughters. I’m trying to see the world through their eyes. Riley is 7 and Emma will be 3 in September. When we color together anything in any color is possible.
Below is a poem that uses consonance from my book, Light the Way. Order online or let me know if you’d like a signed copy.
The Party
People mingling
floating fizzling
bubbling bursting
steadily settling
finally flattening
like soda pop
I love your images! The consonance is very pleasing to the ear. I say be as silly as you want to be!! Especially when we want to see the world through joyful children’s eyes!!
I like this.
A party start to finish in few colorful creative two word lines.
Very good
