My first publication in a third-grade newsletter was a story about a child who finds a bunny in her Easter basket. I’ve been writing ever since, short stories, poems, and essays. I write children’s books too. In fact, I’m still writing about bunnies. My first picture book, The Bunny Poets, was published in 2018. The illustrations were done by Sandy Ferguson Fuller of Alp Arts Company. In 2022, Sandy’s company became my new publisher. My second picture book, The Bunny Poets and the Library Book, is now available.
I’ve published three collections of poetry, Undertow, Water Over Time, and Light the Way. For more details see my work page.
Born in Pennsylvania and now living in California, I am married with two sons. For 12 years I lived in Guam. While there, I attended High School and the University. I’ve also been certified as a bookkeeper by the International Business College of Guam.
After years of course work at the Institution of Life where I majored in Momhood, Husband Management, and Budgetnomics, I returned to a traditional college where I earned my Associate of Arts Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences. Algebra is now my friend, and I can counsel my pals when they need cheap therapy. My older sister has been known to say, Do something with your degree. I did. I hung it on the wall.
It comforts me when I recall advice from a favorite teacher. Write for the joy of writing. Write because it gives you peace.
I’m a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators as well as the Napa Valley Writers Club and Redwood Writers. My stories and poems appear in several club anthologies, and I enjoy reading at open microphone events.
See more short stories in these anthologies: Cup of Comfort for Parents of Children with Autism, Wisdom has a Voice, and Sisters Born, Sisters Found.
