When I started this blog, I had a plan. I wanted to write something noteworthy at least once a month. So do I need to lower my expectations or readjust my glasses so I can read the date again? My last post was in April and now we’re at the end of July.
In my journal, my plan was to write daily, but there is proof that more whining than serious writing has been going on. I’ve always thought it’s a good exercise to write, no matter what, but I’m wasting good journal paper here on stream-of-consciousness experiments.
Fortunately, this week, I have a solution. I have to focus on a writing project because there is a deadline for me to finish a story for the Napa Valley Writers Club, Opus IV, our 2023 anthology, and my deadline is July 31st. Our club publishes an anthology every two years, and we are all encouraged to submit stories or poems. This year I submitted a poem and a non-fiction story. Both pieces were accepted! And now we are in the editing phase. The book will be published in October. It’s a great fundraiser for the club.
Another good bit of news: I had a successful first reading at Jessel Gallery of The Bunny Poets and the Library Book, and I have plans for another reading and signing at Napa Bookmine on September 10th in their new store on Second Street. That will be during story time at 10 am. Both of my Bunny Poet books are for sale locally at Jessel Gallery and Napa Bookmine.
If you have a chance, go and visit the new Bookmine. They’ve got coffee! The children’s section of the store is perfect for my event, and I noticed you could actually wheel a baby carriage in there without running into other customers. So come to the event, Sunday, September 10th at 10:00 and bring babies, toddlers, students, parents and grandparents! All are welcome. Hope to see you there!

Wish I could go!

Once a month goal and not always hitting your mark I would not put much weight on that. Maybe a calendar alarm? Time goes by swiftly at times and slow as molasses other times. I always enjoy you writing and perspective on things.
Bunny Poets and the library book I will be there🙂
